The Department of Education has been made aware that the Construction site at Glenorchy Primary School has received land fill which originated from the Parliament Square Construction site. Based on independent testing of the fill, Macquarie builders have advised the Department that the “site is not a safety issue to children, staff or to any workers”.
During construction, in line with standard practice, the Glenorchy Primary School site is under the control of the builder who is legally responsible for safety and security at the site.
The Department is not currently aware that this material has been used at any other Department of Education construction sites, however, as a precautionary measure, further investigations will be conducted immediately.
