Premier David Bartlett with some of the participants of the Youth Build Program
When I first became Premier, I said I wanted to lead a government that is truly connected to the people.
We have started the process of re-engaging with Tasmanians by holding our first Community Forum at Smithton recently. We will be holding 12 Forums around the state each year, giving the community direct access to ministers and heads of government departments. It’s a great way of ensuring people from all corners of Tasmania are involved in the decisions affecting the direction of our state.
The strong turnout from the Circular Head community is proof that people want to have a stronger voice in government decision-making. I encourage honest feedback and the best way of getting that is making ourselves available to the community.
Tasmania has a bright future and I want to ensure our planning takes into account the widest possible range of views. I look forward to holding a Community Forum near you soon and I hope you come along and participate.
Your feedback and ideas, however big or small, will help your government position Tasmania for the future.
