Designing a better future for Parklands High

Work on the addition of new and improved learning facilities at Parklands High School is underway as part of a $9.145 million investment over the next two years.

This important work will include a revamp of existing areas to provide contemporary and flexible learning environments for all students.

It will also include the construction of new facilities including a new performing arts centre, canteen and student centre.

Tasmanian architect Artas has been engaged to assist with the design, project planning and initial concept plans, which will be fully scoped and developed over the next month.

The design and construction phases will be a consultative process with the architects working closely with the Department’s project team, which includes representatives from the school, Learning Services Northern Region and Facility Services.

It is anticipated that construction will get begin next year, and will be ready for the students in 2017.

This is just one part of our $68 million commitment to our Reinvigorating Tasmanian High Schools, the singles biggest infrastructure investment in high schools in 20 years.

We want to ensure that high school is a place where young Tasmanians have the opportunity to explore their passions and discover a path to their future career in the most contemporary learning environments possible.
