Supporting Tasmanian sporting clubs through the Australian Sports Foundation

There is no bigger supporter of grassroots sporting clubs than the Tasmanian Liberal Government and we are encouraging healthy lifestyles in Tasmania in conjunction with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF).

The Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club, the Wynyard and Districts Cricket Club and the Wynyard Basketball Association were all successful in receiving Active Kids grants through the ASF for new equipment and uniforms earlier this year.

The ASF is Australia’s leading non-profit sports fundraising organisation and charity for sporting organisations, clubs and participants, from grassroots through to the elite level. It provides a free online fundraising platform, which allows community sporting clubs to receive tax deductible donations. The ASF also provides grants for sporting organisations and individuals.

Since its formation in 1986, the ASF has helped clubs and individuals across Australia to raise more than $520 million.

The ASF Grant Programs focus on four key areas to get more people into sport:

  • Active kids – working to increase participation of kids in sport;
  • Women in sport – breaking down barriers for female participation in sport;
  • Diversity and inclusion – supporting sporting organisations to include everyone regardless of cultural, social, sexual orientation, age, economic background or ability; and
  • Sport for all – funding for community-based organisations, schools and clubs to boost participation in grassroots community sport.

Communities, Sport and Recreation regularly promotes the ASF and its services to the Tasmanian sporting community through its free monthly enewsletter Actively in Touch, as well as advising Tasmanian organisations seeking project funding about the ASF and its services.

Information about how the Australian Sports Foundation can help sporting organisations with fundraising goals is available at www.asf.org.au.
