Jen Butler has again been caught asleep at the wheel, choosing to blindly ignore the facts in relation to live theatre performances which I advised her just recently during Budget Estimates.
In addition, the Premier clearly said in his media conference two days ago that Public Health are now giving consideration to increase capacity at venues, including theatres and cinemas.
This follows the safe re-opening of borders to the mainland, the safe arrival of international mercy flights, hotel quarantine arrangements, seasonal workers, and this week's announcement of the safe return of dancing, stand up drinking and larger gathering sizes.
Public Health now have the resources to consider the important issues associated with increasing crowd sizes at theatres and cinemas in Tasmania, which is something that has been front and centre of my discussions with the sector and Public Health.
We are clearly focused on balancing the health and safety of Tasmanian’s while reducing restrictions to enable Tasmanian’s to do the things that they enjoy, including attending live shows and performances.
To do this we need to ease restrictions in a safe way, and we won't be rushed by Jen Butler who failed to even get one mention of the Arts into Labor's so called alternative budget.
The fact remains that Public Health are currently considering moving towards 75 per cent capacity for theatres and cinemas, with more information to be provided in the coming week.
