The sale of ice pipes banned

Today we have delivered our election commitment to better align our illicit drug laws and limit the visibility to the general public by banning the sale of ice pipes.

The passing of the Poisons Amendment Bill 2019 today is an important commitment of the Hodgman majority Liberal Government to further protect Tasmanians from the scourge of drugs in our community, by introducing legislation to ban the sale and display of ice pipes by retailers and wholesalers.

These important changes will bring Tasmania’s laws into line with the majority of states and territories regarding illicit drugs and reinforce the very strong message to Tasmanians that the use of ice is illegal, highly addictive and dangerous to people's health.

This will help to discourage the uptake of illicit activities by people purchasing the pipes for the intent of smoking ice.
