Online passes make visiting national parks even easier

The Liberal Government has a target of growing our tourism industry to 1.5 million visitors per year each year by 2020, and making it easier for visitors to access our National Parks will help us to do just that.

Visiting the state's National Parks and reserves has become even easier with the launch of an online parks pass purchasing system.

Many Tasmanian tourism attractions, including our National Parks, are recognised as genuinely world-class, but to fully capitalise on that recognition we must keep pace with technology and provide world-class service and facilities.

The online system is designed to enhance the purchasing options already in place. Intending visitors will be able to purchase a pass before their holiday or buy online using their mobile device or tablet while travelling around the State.

When purchasing a parks pass online, the visitor will be emailed the Parks Pass as a PDF. This PDF can either be downloaded on to the visitor's mobile device as evidence of purchase or printed out and displayed on the car dashboard.

For the more than 20,000 annual and two-year pass holders, most of whom are Tasmanians, the easy-to-navigate online system will make managing their renewal process much more streamlined.

Parks Passes can now be purchased online at www.parks.tas.gov.au. Passes can also be purchased by phoning 1300TasParks, via PWS visitor centres, through Service Tasmania and other agents such as the Tourism Visitor Information Network (TVIN), aboard the Spirit of Tasmania, and via commercial operators who guide people within the parks.
