White must come out of hiding to defend Labor vote

Labor’s Rebecca White must come out of hiding to defend Labor’s vote to block mandatory minimum prison terms for people who commit serious sexual offences against children.

In fairness to Labor’s Upper House members, they are voting on instructions from their leader – Ms White.

It is up to Ms White as Leader to explain her party’s actions.

Labor now holds the balance of power in the Upper House, and they are now being exposed and held to account for their actions.

Ms White should also withdraw Labor’s ill-considered threat to withdraw the pair for Dr Goodwin. To bring someone’s health into a political debate is simply not on.

The fact is, if even one Labor MLC had voted for this legislation yesterday, it would have passed.
