Re-issued: Keeping downward pressure on cost of living for Tasmanians

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to keeping downward pressure on the cost of living for Tasmanians.

We have a target to provide the lowest regulated power prices in the nation by 2022 and developing empowering products like aurora+, which was launched today, will help us achieve that goal.

The aurora+ product, which utilises advanced meters, will give customers new digital tools to manage their energy use better, and in turn help push down their power bills.

This technology is among the first of its kind in Australia and gives customers advanced meters with visibility of their daily energy usage in dollar terms, allowing them to manage costs via an app.

The aurora+ product allows users to see peak and off-peak tariffs so that they can time their energy usage of the lower rate. It also allows customers the flexibility to view and top up their accounts, potentially removing the need for quarterly bills.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government understands that keeping downward pressure on electricity bills is vitally important for Tasmanians and we are pleased that Aurora is developing innovative products to help achieve this goal.
