EOI now open for second round of Collective ed. initiative

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to lifting educational achievement and creating a job-ready generation by giving students easier access to senior secondary studies, sending a clear message that school does not finish at Year 10.

Following the successful initial roll out of the $15 million Beacon Foundation Collective ed. initiative announced last year to Bayview Secondary College, Jordan River Learning Federation and Ulverstone High School, expressions of interest are now open for three more schools to take part from 2018.

This partnership between the Paul Ramsay Foundation, the Hodgman Government, and the Beacon Foundation links students with businesses to ensure they get the skills and experience they need to go on to their chosen career. It recognises the importance of community involvement to help students finish high school by taking a collaborative approach to make sure they are ready for employment by bringing businesses and the school community together.

The Government is committed to improving educational outcomes, and we have made great progress with our Year 11 and 12 high school extensions. We know there is more to do, which is why we have a target of increasing the retention rate of Year 10-12 students to at or above the national average by 2022, and to have 75 per cent of all students in Year 12 complete their TCE by 2022.

The Hodgman Government will continue to Build Your Future through education initiatives such as Collective ed. because improving educational outcomes is the pathway to a good job and a good quality of life.
