Jane Howlett, Minister for Sport and Recreation

Congratulations Amy Cure

As Minister for Sport and Recreation I congratulate Tasmanian cyclist Amy Cure on a stellar career after announcing her retirement from international cycling today.

Amy is a great Tasmanian, and for the past 12 years the Burnie cyclist has excelled on the world stage and her achievements have been inspirational.

Her illustrious international career has seen her become a three-time World Champion, four-time Junior World Champion, Commonwealth Games gold medallist and Olympian.

In 2017, Amy made history by becoming the first person in track cycling history to win a medal in six different world championship events.

I wish Amy all the very best for her future endeavours and thank her for her significant contribution to cycling and for helping to inspire the next generation of Tasmanian athletes.
