Budget confirms strong commitment to health

The Hodgman Liberal Government has a strong record of investing in Tasmania’s health system.

The State Budget has confirmed our commitment to continue this investment to build a better health system.

More than $370 million of new funding has been allocated over the next four years, but more importantly, we have spelt out exactly how we will deliver our six-year record $757 million health plan.

There has never been a bigger uplift in the health Budget in our state's history, and the real benefits will be felt in each and every financial year.

We are looking beyond election cycles and planning for the future.

We have fixed the Budget, which means we are able to reinvest into our front line, reversing Labor’s devastating cuts and building the facilities we need to expand services.

This Budget confirms we will deliver on every single promise we took to the election, including new services, more beds and staff, and new and upgraded infrastructure.

Our plan is bigger and better than Labor’s election policy, which was nearly $200 million less than our commitment – and they’ve abandoned it, with no alternative Budget – they’ve failed the most basic test of opposition.

And now that Labor has walked away from their election promises, does that at least mean they have finally abandoned their abysmal medihotels plan, which would have seen sick people thrown into hotel rooms?

While Labor continues to sit on the sidelines and complain, we are getting on with the job of building a better health system.
