Anti-bullying Book Launch

The Liberal Government is committed to tackling bullying and cyber bullying.

Bullying is a serious issue in our society that the community as a whole must take a stand against.

Today the Salvation Army launched three books written and illustrated in Tasmania, addressing cyber safety, cyber bullying and sibling bullying issues. Bruce and Denise Morcombe, Child Safety Ambassadors from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, helped to launch the books.

Developed and produced by The Salvation Army - Communities for Children South East Tasmania, the three books are designed to promote discussion about bullying between young people, their families, teachers, carers and others who work with children.

At today's launch I spoke about the issues of bullying and cyber bullying, and what we are doing to tackle them. I have referred the issue of bullying to the Tasmanian Law Reform Institute for investigation as to how the legislative provisions that deal with bullying and cyber bullying may be strengthened.

I congratulate the Salvation Army on the launch of these books and for their commitment to tackling this critical issue of bullying.
