Transporting Tasmanians in need through our Community Car and Coach Fund

Twelve cars across eleven organisations have hit the road thanks to our $500,000 Community Car and Coach Fund, ensuring more Tasmanians can access the essential services they need, when they need to.

These projects will help keep their communities connected and supported, and include:

  • Bicheno Community Health Group Inc for a car;
  • Dunalley Tasman Neighbourhood House Inc for a mini-bus;
  • Fingal Valley Neighbourhood House Inc for a car; and
  • Launceston City Mission for a people mover.

These projects will directly benefit their community through locally driven transport solutions for disadvantaged community members or groups, particulary in rural and regional communities where other transport options may be limited.

Importantly, this initiative will enable people to access employment, education, health and wellbeing services, and social and other support networks, and include 3 hybrid vehicles.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government believes building stronger communities builds a stronger Tasmania, and this initiative demonstrates our commitment to continue working alongside the people and organisations that help underpin the wellbeing of our communities.

A full list of the successful applicants are available on the Department of Communities Tasmania website at www.communities.tas.gov.au/csr
