The debut season of Alone Australia premiered on SBS and SBS on Demand last night, showcasing Tasmania’s amazing wilderness and natural locations to the nation and the world.
Alone Australia features 10 survivalists who have been cast into the forests of Tasmania’s west coast, isolated from the world and each other and stripped of modern possessions, contact and comforts to self-document their experience.
Minister for the Arts, Elise Archer, says the series further reflects Tasmania’s well-deserved reputation as a world-class filming location.
“This is the first Australian version of a globally successful television concept, and the producers chose Tasmania as their base,” Ms Archer said.
“Our screen industry is a valuable contributor to our economy that supports jobs right around the State, and this will once again showcase our stunning natural locations on the West Coast to the rest of the nation, and around the world.
“The program’s creative and production teams also included a number of Tasmanians, contributing to the ongoing career development and professional opportunities for our State’s local filmmakers and adjacent sectors.”
