The Tasmanian Hospitality and Tourism Training organisation has launched its new cooking course and will now become known as VXT (Visitor Experience Training) after also launching their rebrand.
The new course will help to address the workforce shortage of cooks, including pastry cooks and bakers, as well as cooks in taverns, takeaway food services and café sectors in Tasmania.
Tasmania’s capacity to cater for increasing visitor numbers and deliver outstanding visitor experiences will be driven by the skills of our workforce.
We want Tasmanians to consider career options in hospitality and tourism and we know that having access to a range of training choices and training providers like VXT will play a critical role in building the skills we need to help Tasmania achieve its tourism and hospitality potential,.
VXT was established following a $1 million funding agreement from the Tasmanian Government in late 2020, and was formed as an industry led, outcome focused training organisation to attract Tasmanians into tourism and hospitality roles.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to supporting our critical tourism and hospitality sectors with a sustainable, industry-led approach to training to build a skilled workforce.
The training provided by VXT complements courses offered by TasTAFE’s Drysdale. It is delivering more choices for students around the State by expanding industry informed accredited and non-accredited training programs.
Industry informed training programs are part of the Tasmanian Government’s plan to improve training options for the sector, create employment opportunities and grow our skilled Tasmanian hospitality and tourism workforces.
