Stronger Studentworks program to deliver career, education pathways

The Rockliff Liberal Government is getting things done and delivering on our commitment to support Studentworks into the future.

To be known as Studentworks@Launceston, the program will now be part of the highly successful T4 engagement program, offering vocational learning opportunities in 2023 and beyond.

This means Studentworks’ community connection continues while ensuring the program aligns with the Department for Education, Children and Young People’s structures and education curriculum.

It is intended that T4@Studentworks programs will run for 10 weeks - two days per week with students continuing to attend their local school on the other three days. Referrals to this program will be student nominated and supported by the school.

Appropriate applied and vocational learning will be offered as part of the program, which will support the delivery of high-quality career and education pathways.

Minister for Education, Children and Youth Roger Jaensch said the new arrangements will engage students in activities and projects that will give them the skills they need to enter the workforce.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government is giving our young people the education and training they need to succeed,” Minister Jaensch said.

“The new Studentworks model will seek to offer vocational learning opportunities relevant to the modern labour market, including hospitality, enterprise and design.

“It’s another step in our positive plan to upskill our next generation to enter the workforce, which will further strengthen our economy and deliver jobs growth.”

Specific program offerings and student nominations will occur in early 2023, with a commencement date of Week 3 of Term 1, 2023.

Minister Jaensch thanked the Studentworks Board and staff for their ongoing commitment to the program.

"I also congratulate all the students who have participated in the program this year. Well done on your achievements and I wish you every success in 2023 and beyond," Minister Jaensch said.
