Storyteller Grants build awareness of importance of early years

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is supporting communities to build awareness and share the importance of the first 1000 days of a child’s life, being from pregnancy to two years old.

That’s why I’m proud to announce the recipients of the latest round of the B4 Early Years First 1000 Days Storyteller Grants.

Congratulations to:

  • The Link- Youth Health Service
  • Fingal Valley Neighbourhood House Inc.
  • The Shepherd Centre – For Deaf Children
  • Beaconsfield House Inc.
  • Parakaleo Ministries Inc.

The B4 Early Years First 1000 Days Storyteller Grants provide communities with the resources to support everyone to have conversations for the first 1000 days and, share the key messages on why this period is so critical for children’s development.

This year’s successful organisations will receive grants of up to $20,000 to undertake their projects over the next 18 months.

These grants also build on the success of last year’s funding round where 11 communities benefitted from the programs supported by our Government.

The B4 Early Years Coalition is a movement for change to ensure every child in Tasmania is cared for and nurtured through the early years, no matter what.

From the very moment a life begins, a child’s experiences and environments will shape their lifelong learning, health, and development.

By recognising and understanding the significance of these early years we can take action together to give all Tasmanian children the best start to life.

The announcement of these grants also coincides with Early Learning Matters Week, which creates an opportunity to highlight the importance of high-quality early education and care supports children’s development and wellbeing.

Held until October 21, this year’s theme is Learning through play.

Everyone has a role to play in supporting Tasmanian child to thrive. This could be through developing and distributing helpful resources, engaging in early years conversations, or encouraging everyone to get involved and play their part for children in Tasmania.
