New Northern Tasmania Police Recruit Satellite Course with UTAS now underway

Our Northern Tasmania Police recruits have commenced their on-site training this week at the University of Tasmania’s Newnham Campus.

Whilst our new recruits officially commenced training two weeks ago, their northern based studies started this week, through the strong partnership between Tasmania Police and the University of Tasmania.

I commend Tasmania Police for this fantastic new initiative of establishing the Northern Satellite Recruit Training Course pilot.

This pilot course allows recruits to remain living in the north of the state during their training, with participants to be stationed in their home district when they graduate as probationary constables.

The course is being run as part of Course 1 – 2022 (alongside 23 southern-based recruits) and will be delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face learning, including live-streamed lessons from the Rokeby Police Academy.

This pilot course is part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s commitment to boosting police numbers by 308 additional officers.

Wherever you live in Tasmania, if you want a solid, rewarding and exciting career – please get in touch with Tasmania Police’s recruitment team today.
