Eat it Tassie! campaign launch

We know Tourism and Hospitality industries were some of the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is why the Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to supporting our important hospitality sector as we prepare to welcome visitors back to our State for the summer season and continue to encourage locals to get out and about.

The Tasmanian Government has committed $250,000 to support a state-wide marketing campaign that will feature Tasmania’s hospitality venues and local personalities, showcase Tasmanian produce and remind people that these venues still need our support.

The campaign will be called Eat it Tassie! and will focus on celebrating Tasmania’s food, beverage and venue experiences through story telling across various platforms with hospitality venues encouraged to get creative by adding specialty food and beverage offerings that showcase Tasmanian produce or to host events.

The campaign will be delivered across radio, TV, print and social media channels.

Minister for Small Business, Hospitality and Events, Sarah Courtney, said “As we move through the recovery phase, the Tasmanian Government is focused on supporting our vital hospitality industry. Eat it Tassie! is a free marketing platform and I strongly encourage our clubs, pubs, cafĂ©’s restaurants and bars in all corners of our State to leverage from this exciting opportunity which will help drive visitation to venues as we rebuild our strong hospitality sector,” Minister Courtney said.

“We look forward to celebrating our great Tassie food, wine, produce, venues, chefs, hospitality staff and their special take on Tassie food and festivity over our Tassie summer.”

Dave Noonan from Bright Escapes is one of the drivers of the Eat it Tassie! Campaign and said COVID had been tough for everyone, especially our hospitality sector.

“Eat it Tassie! provides an opportunity for our hospitality venues to showcase their amazing food, people and experience this summer,” Mr Noonan said.

“It means you can experience the best that Tassie has to offer, no matter where you are in our great State.”

“Our hospitality venues really need to have a big summer. We want Tasmanians and visitors to get out there and sample the best of our food and produce and this is a great way to get all the information in one easy to access location.”

Eat it Tassie! is the second hospitality campaign funded by the Tasmanian Government since the COVID-19 pandemic hit with $255,000 provided to deliver the ‘Welcome Back’ campaign during July – October 2020 to encourage Tasmanians to safely support their favourite venues.

Venues can register at https://eatittassie.com.au/ with the program of activities, experiences and offers available to the public from mid-December.
