Today, we’re issuing an important reminder to all Tasmanian businesses to continue to review their COVID-19 Safety Plans and processes and ensure they are clearly communicating requirements with patrons and customers.
Tasmanian businesses are required to record in writing how they are meeting the minimum standards required by Public Health, generally done through a COVID-19 Safety Plan which documents the steps businesses are taking to reduce the risk of COVID-19 for their staff and customers.
Businesses are inspected by WorkSafe Tasmania on a risk basis for continued compliance with their COVID-19 Safety Plan and the Work Health and Safety Act 2012, and provided with advice on how to achieve compliance, with improvement notices issued when required.

It is pleasing to see how willing employers, workers and the community have been to contribute to and play their part in keeping Tasmanians safe and our economy open for business. We need this to continue and we cannot be complacent – COVID-19 Safety Plans are an important part of our overall response to reducing the risk of COVID-19 spreading.
In addition to businesses taking steps to keep their workers, patrons and customers safe – we need the help of Tasmanians to keep on top of COVID, including by following the instructions outlined by businesses through signage and staff instructions.
Please remember, wash your hands, keep your distance, stay at home if you’re sick, get tested if you have symptoms and follow the current restrictions.
Tasmanians have played a crucial role in keeping themselves and their communities safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and our Government thanks everyone for their efforts to date.
