Launching Tasmanian businesses into space

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is supporting local businesses to drive innovation, develop local capability, and create new STEM and highly skilled jobs for our State.

That’s why today we’re excited to launch the $500,000 Tasmanian Space Technology Seed Fund to support eligible businesses in research and development projects that seek to extend, adapt or develop new products or services for the space economy.

The first round of the Tasmanian Space Technology Seed Fund will offer grants of between $25,000 to $100,000 available on a co-contribution basis, encouraging businesses to be bold and engage in the growing space sector.

The global drive for space exploration and the rapid development of new technology is generating a multitude of opportunities for innovative Tasmanian businesses to address a market that is set to grow to $12 billion and create 20,000 new jobs in Australia by 2030.

The first round of applications closes on Tuesday, 31 May 2022, with further details at www.stategrowth.tas.gov.au
