The Opposition has stooped to a new low in misleading the Tasmania public over the state of Tasmania’s health system.
What’s worse is that they are either doing it deliberately, which shows they’ll do anything for a headline, or they are so inept in the ability to understand health data that it proves they are not fit to govern.
They have weaponised the death of Tasmanians who are transported to hospital by ambulance in order to be pronounced deceased.
If Labor had done their homework they would know that in Tasmania, when someone dies a medical practitioner is required to pronounce life extinct.
It has been a longstanding practice for emergency departments to undertake this function where required, while in other states the role can be performed by community GPs and/or paramedics.
What’s worse is that the Opposition has deliberately ignored the qualifiers of the data table in the report they refer to which indicates that each jurisdiction has different practices and therefore is not comparable.
Instead of educating themselves and learning how the health system works, Labor is instead focused on scaring and misleading Tasmanians.
This is yet another example of why Tasmanians do not trust Labor on health.
They should be ashamed of themselves and correct the record immediately.
