The health, safety and wellbeing of Tasmanians remains our top priority as we continue to manage the ongoing risk of COVID-19 to our State.
We know we will be living with this virus for some time yet, particularly as new strains like Delta emerge, and we need to ensure we remain alert and responsive.
Most importantly, we want as many eligible adults as possible to get vaccinated in Tasmania.
That’s why from 9am tomorrow, anyone over the age of 30 in Tasmania will be able to book their vaccination in a State Vaccination Clinic, ensuring we get even more of our community vaccinated.
Anyone over the age 30 will be able to call the Public Health hotline on 1800 671 738 or go online at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au from tomorrow to book their vaccination. There are appointments for the Pfizer vaccination available for August and an additional 10,000 appointments have just been added.
Of course we continue to urge those in our priority groups, including our aged care and disability sectors, to book a vaccination if they haven’t already – you remain a priority for us and we will continue to ensure you receive a vaccine.
Importantly, Tasmania continues to lead the nation with our vaccination effort, with more than 47 per cent of eligible Tasmanians having had their first dose, compared to about 39 per cent nationally, and more than 23 per cent of eligible Tasmanians fully vaccinated, compared to about 17.5 per cent nationally.
With new cases continuing to emerge daily in other states, our message remains the same: Don’t wait. Vaccinate.
