Grants awarded to enhance seafood processing sector

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is investing in our successful seafood industry to help it diversify and invest in value-adding infrastructure.

Seven successful Tasmanian seafood processors have received up to $80,000 each under Round 2 of the Seafood Processor Grants Program.

Our Government has invested $476,611 in this funding round to help deliver a range of projects relating to the installation of new processing infrastructure to improve product quality, develop new products and value-add to Tasmanian seafood.

The grants program forms part of the Tasmanian Government’s $2 million Wild Fisheries Action Plan, which is being delivered over two years.

Successful projects aim to expand the market access of Tasmanian seafood, both locally and internationally, to benefit the wild-caught seafood industry.

The 2021 program saw 10 successful businesses receive a share of $743,000 in funding to innovate and invest in new infrastructure to develop new products and markets.
Completed projects have successfully developed new abalone and rock lobster product to expand the market access of Tasmanian seafood.
The successful Round 2 recipients are:

  • Tas Live Abalone Pty Ltd
  • RTS PAUACO LIMITED PARTNERSHIPS TA True South Seafood
  • Mures Fishing Pty Ltd
  • Marrawah Gold TA Tasmanian Seafood Fertilisers
  • MD Pty Ltd TA King Island Seafood
  • Seafood Traders
  • OSCAR Tasmanian Seafood Pty Ltd

Our Government is delivering for all Tasmanians, and we know that Tasmanian seafood is some of the best in the world.

We are proud to be supporting the industry, which makes significant economic and social contributions to the State and regional development.
