With Tasmania ready to open its borders on 15 December, the Tasmanian Government will continue to offer Pandemic Isolation Grants to eligible residents who lose income if they need to isolate.
This includes financial assistance of $250 per adult and $125 per child, capped at $1000 per household.

The Commonwealth Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment of up to $1,500 is also available for eligible Tasmanians if they can't earn an income because they must self-isolate or quarantine, or are caring for someone with COVID-19 in accordance with the public health advice. High vaccination rates mean Tasmania will be one of the safest places in the world when borders open on the 15 December and we encourage everybody to ensure they’ve had their jab.
Importantly there will be health measures in place at our borders and in our community. This includes isolation and testing if you have COVID-19 or are identified as a close contact.
The Tasmanian Government has provided nation leading support through the COVID-19 pandemic, and is continuing to support Tasmanians when and where it is needed as we work our way through reopening our borders.
The Supercharged Critical Support Program has recently provided almost $43 million in vital support to more than 3,100 eligible Tasmania businesses.
We understand that businesses are both nervous and excited about the Government’s safe border reopening plan and that is why as we draw closer to December 15, the Government is doing everything we can to assist businesses to gear up for the reopening.
We’ve acted on public health advice every step of the way and that’s what has made Tasmania one of the safest places in the world.
I am also pleased to advise that a free support and advice service to assist businesses with workplace border reopening and COVID-19 vaccination queries is now available from the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), with funding provided by the Tasmanian Government.
A workplace relations helpline and email address are available and staffed by a team of qualified advisers.
