Extension of consultation for Review of the Racing Regulation Act 2004

The Tasmanian Government is the strongest supporter of the racing industry which involves almost 6,000 people as employees, participants or volunteers, with nearly two thirds of these people based in regional or rural communities.

Probity and integrity are critically important in the racing industry and underpins confidence in racing across all three codes in the state. The important review of the Racing Regulation Act 2004 is underway.

The review is being undertaken by Mr Dale Monteith, and the terms of reference for the review and a discussion paper have been publicly released.

The initial closing date for submissions was at 5pm today (21 January). I am pleased to announce an extension to the submission date has been provided after several requests and the impacts of COVID.

Submissions will now close at 5pm on 4 February, 2022.

Mr Monteith will also take this opportunity to conduct further consultation sessions with interested parties.

Written submissions can be emailed to: RacingRegulationReview@dpipwe.tas.gov.au
