On behalf of the Tasmanian Government, I want to thank Magistrate Glenn Hay, who is retiring at the end of this month following almost 14 years of dedicated service to the administration of justice in the role of Magistrate.
Mr Hay commenced as a Magistrate in August 2007 and since that time has been very involved in the Court’s therapeutic jurisdiction, along with his work in the Court’s criminal, civil, coronial, and other divisions.
I thank Mr Hay for his many years of service to the Tasmanian community, and wish him all the best for the future.
I also look forward to attending the ceremonial sitting to mark his retirement, which will be held in Hobart on 30 July.
The Department of Justice has now commenced the process to appoint a new Magistrate to replace outgoing Magistrate Hay.
The appointment for the new Magistrate will be made in accordance with the Protocol for Judicial Appointments which stipulates the eligibility criteria, selection process and consultation requirements that apply. Expressions of interest are due by close of business on Friday, 30 July.
