Promoting The Southern Tasmanian Advantage

The advantages and opportunities available in Southern Tasmania are showcased in a new investment prospectus released by the Tasmanian Government today.

Minister for State Growth Michael Ferguson said The Southern Tasmanian Advantage investment prospectus is part of our Government’s plan to secure Tasmania’s future.

“Our Government has introduced measures to keep Tasmanians safe, our economy has rebounded and we are getting on with delivering our plan,” Minister Ferguson said.

“Giving businesses the confidence and continuity they need is vital and The Southern Tasmanian Advantage is the latest in a suite of investment documents developed by the Office of the Coordinator-General to attract investment and business to Tasmania.

“We are helping businesses to quickly identify advantages and opportunities by highlighting the major industries in southern Tasmania, as well as critical infrastructure including high-speed NBN, an abundance of energy powered by renewable sources and easy-access to freight and logistics options.”

Clarence City Council Mayor Doug Chipman said the investment prospectus also highlights the strategic Hobart City Deal partnership, a ten-year shared vision across all three levels of government.

“The Southern Tasmanian Advantage covers the 12 local government areas of southern Tasmania, and highlights possible partnerships across both State and Local Government to encourage investment in Tasmania,” Mr Chipman said.

"The City of Clarence is home to the Hobart Airport, major industrial and tourism hubs and I am confident this new tool with assist with further growth in our municipality, and throughout Southern Tasmania."

Huon Valley Mayor Bec Enders said the prospectus builds on Southern Tasmania’s position as a vibrant, liveable and connected global city.

“Our region is diverse in employment and investment opportunities for those that are wanting an enviable lifestyle and opportunity to develop their business in a State that is recognised worldwide for its excellence and sustainability,” Ms Enders said.
