Classroom upgrades one step closer for Campbell Town District School

Works to upgrade classrooms at Campbell Town District School will soon get underway after the appointment of the building contractor.

Northern Tasmania-based firm R&S Rosier Constructions has been engaged to undertake upgrades to two general learning areas to provide improved learning spaces for the school’s primary students and staff.

Education, Children and Youth Minister Roger Jaensch said the project was part of the Rockliff Liberal Government’s 2021 election commitment to provide $10 million over four years to renew and update classrooms at primary schools across the State.

“We know the physical learning environment has a major impact on student access, engagement and participation in learning, and that is why we are giving our young people the education facilities they need,” Minister Jaensch said.

“The Rockliff Liberal Government continues to build our economy, create jobs and support school communities by delivering the largest State infrastructure investment for schools in more than 20 years.”

Other primary schools being upgraded under the Contemporary Classrooms Program are South George Town Primary School, East Derwent Primary School, Dodges Ferry Primary School, Mowbray Heights Primary School, Lilydale District School, Glen Dhu Primary School, Ringarooma Primary School, Port Dalrymple School, Risdon Vale Primary School, Havenview Primary School, and Rosetta Primary School.

The classroom works at Campbell Town District School are expected to commence next month and be completed in the second half of 2023.
