The Tasmanian Government recognises that gambling can have an impact on individuals, families and communities.
One of the aims of our Future Gaming Market policy is to continue to minimise harm caused by gambling, through reforms including doubling the level of the Community Support Levy (CSL).
This provides us with an opportunity to review our existing supports and services for people impacted by gambling.
The additional funds that will be available through the increase in the CSL will provide opportunities to explore and implement innovative support programs, community education initiatives and research projects that ensure we continue to meet the needs of the Tasmanian community.
The Fifth Social and Economic Impact Study (SEIS) already provides a comprehensive snapshot of gambling at a population level that is critical in designing and delivering gambling support services and programs.
Leveraging the findings of the Fifth SEIS, the Tasmanian Government will use targeted research and consult with people with lived experience, specialist gambling support services, the community sector and other external stakeholders to drill down into gambling in the Tasmanian community.
We remain committed to preventing and reducing gambling harms through our Gambling Support Program (GSP), which continues to provide specialist support services for people impacted by gambling.
