New golf campaign tees off

Golfers from across the country are being encouraged to test their abilities on Tasmania’s world-class golf courses in a new marketing campaign, launched by Tourism Tasmania.

The campaign invites golf enthusiasts to experience Tasmania’s top-ranked public golf courses including Cape Wickham and Ocean Dunes on King Island, as well as Barnbougle’s Lost Farm and The Dunes, located on the north-east coast of Tasmania.

Course rankings are a key driver of destination choice for golfers and the world-ranking reputation of these four courses, combined with their stunning, rugged coastal beauty, present a compelling reason for golf enthusiasts to visit Tasmania for their next golfing holiday.

Research shows visitors who come to Tasmania to pursue interests such as golfing are more likely to stay longer and spend more, which benefits our regional communities and the broader visitor economy, especially when our tourism industry needs continued support.

The campaign is aimed at capturing the attention of golfers across Australia, with advertising in leading Australian golf publications and websites, such as Golf Digest and Golf Australia, alongside targeted digital advertising. Special packages and deals with travel partners are also featured on the campaign website to entice golfers to book their next golf adventure in Tasmania.

The campaign is the latest installation of Tourism Tasmania’s Unordinary Adventures program, aimed at encouraging visitors to travel outside of our major centres by targeting travellers in the areas of mountain biking, walking, golf and fly fishing, all of which offer world-class experiences in Tasmania.

Tasmania’s tourism industry has had an incredibly tough year, but the Tasmanian Liberal Government has a strong plan to secure Tasmania’s future, which includes support for our vital tourism industry, announced by the Premier last week.

This includes an $8 million in innovation and development grants to enable key projects across the state to be realised, as well as $4 million to provide direct financial support to tourism and hospitality businesses that are identified as critical to regional visitor attraction.

We are also providing $1.5 million to assist tourism operators to help tourism operators to become carbon neutral, as part of our target for the industry to become a Carbon Neutral Destination by 2025.

Additionally, the Government is providing $3 million to attract and support the production and filming in Tasmania of works that showcase the state that builds on the marketing efforts of our tourism industry and brand, as well as $1 million to assist travel agents who have been hit hard through the pandemic.
