Better access to mental health support for those living in the North of Tasmania

The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes the announcement from Primary Health Tasmania (PHT) that Tasmanians living in the north of the State will have easier access to mental health support with the opening of Launceston Head to Health next week.

Delivered with Australian Government funding, through the Primary Health Networks program, the Head to Health centre will provide walk-in support, information and advice for Tasmanians who need help for their own mental health, or that of their loved ones.

The new centre for adults will complement the extensive reforms and priority commitments already being delivered by the Tasmanian Government, such as the two Integration Hubs currently under development at St John’s Park and the Peacock Centre in the South, as well as two new Mental Health Services precincts in the North and North West of the State.

We will continue to work closely with the Australian Government to deliver high quality mental health supports and services for Tasmanians across a range of important areas including suicide prevention and aftercare, eating disorders treatment, child and youth mental health, and perinatal mental health.
