1000 job seekers supported into work

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is helping to find pathways into employment for more than 1000 Tasmanians as part of our plan to support our growing economy.

Through our Regional Jobs Hub Network, Tasmanians are provided with dedicated, local employment support services to increase workforce participation in regional areas.

The Network is building on existing employment connect services and establishing a new Jobs Hub to create a statewide network to support Tasmanian job seekers and businesses looking for workers.

We know the model works with more than 1000 Tasmanian job seekers already supported into work through these services.

The Regional Jobs Hub Network is supported by Jobs Tasmania, which was established in July 2021 and has already rolled out a suite of programs to help employers and job seekers.

The Job Ready Fund is providing job seekers with financial barriers up to $500 in equipment to start work or get work ready.

Employers can access up to $6,500 through the Tasmanian Employer Bonus to take on someone who has been out of the workforce for 6 months or more.

The Skills Matching Service, incorporating Shift Sharer, is helping connect workers to industries like tourism and hospitality find workers they need now.

Work has also commenced with Migrant Resource Centres to support new Tasmanians into our growing industries like tourism and hospitality, building and construction, and aged and disability services.

Jobs Tasmania has also provided Community Transport Service Tasmania with $3.2 million to roll the successful Area Connect program across the State to address transport barriers to people connecting with work or training.

With an ambitious agenda, Jobs Tasmania’s close to $40 million budget is focussed on making sustainable changes to how to deliver support for labour market to business and job seekers alike.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence, in partnership with the University of Tasmania, has been appointed to support Jobs Tasmania and its business and community partners, to assess the impact of the agenda and how delivery can be improved.

The Brotherhood’s experience with national employment programs, as well as work here in Tasmania on youth related programs, will help ensure Jobs Tasmania’s programs continue to deliver sustainable and positive impacts for Tasmanian communities.
