The Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery Forum has commenced today bringing together industry experts and stakeholders to discuss current waste management issues.
The Forum is held by the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) and follows consultation by the Hodgman Liberal Government on a new waste strategy – the Tasmanian Waste Action Plan.
The forum provides an opportunity for the waste and recycling industry to get together to discuss current issues, including the increased activity across Australia in the waste policy space, following the decision by China to tighten its controls on the import of recyclable materials.
We have commitments to reduce packaging waste, work with industry leaders to boost consumer awareness, increase recycling capacity and boost demand through market development.
The draft Tasmanian Waste Action Plan is expected to be released for public consultation in early 2019.
