Tasmanian Apprentices Win National Plastering Competition

Two TasTAFE trained plastering apprentices have won the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries (AWICI) Australia and New Zealand 2018 Apprentice Skills Challenge held in Perth, Western Australia.

The win by Mitchell Stephan and William Brown marks the seventh time in the past eight years that Tasmanian plastering apprentices trained at TasTAFE have won the national competition.

Mitchell, who won gold in plastering at the WorldSkills Australia National Competitions in June, works at Darren’s Plastering in Hobart, and William works at Tasmanian Professional Plastering in Hobart.

Both apprentices are undertaking a Certificate III in Plastering and have done their apprentice training at TasTAFE’s Clarence Campus.

They had to complete a project that involved a metal stud structure built to standards, specifications and plans which included a stepped ceiling and two niches in walls.

Congratulations to Mitchell and William on their achievement.  This is clear recognition of their hard work and commitment to excellence.
