The Tasmanian majority Liberal Government’s number one priority is to keep our state safe and secure from the threat of coronavirus.
During this unprecedented and constantly changing situation the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management is continuing to review and respond appropriately to protect its own people as well as members of the community.
Tasmania Police’s recruitment and training program remains a priority, with the current recruits being trained in operational skills ready to assist frontline officers if necessary over the coming weeks.
The recruits operational skills training has been brought forward and they have undergone this specific training for the past two weeks to ensure they are able to step up if needed.
A range of additional measures have been put in place to ensure the health and safety of all staff, including recruits and applicants throughout the process.
Recruit intakes are continuing as normal and remain a priority. So, if you’ve been considering joining the police service, now is the time to check it out.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our wonderful police officers who are fulfilling a critical role in the frontline response, prevention and containment of COVID-19. Along with our amazing health workers and other first responders, police officers are among those that are at the putting themselves on the line to help protect their community.
