Tasmania closes the gap in latest CommSec

The latest CommSec State of the States report has confirmed Tasmania topped annual growth in the nation in four of the eight indicators.

Tasmania has improved in all eight of CommSec’s rankings since the April 2014 Report, and the Hodgman Liberal Government is continuing to implement our long term plan to ensure this improvement continues.  The bad days of Labor And the Greens are a thing of the past.

According to the report, Tasmania ranks fourth in the overall rankings out of all States and Territories, but is closing the gap on the top three States and Territories.

Tasmania was reported to have the fastest annual pace of economic growth of all jurisdictions, up by 7.1 per cent, almost double the national average, compared with the year to June 2017.

Tasmania also came out on top in terms of relative population growth, with the State’s latest annual growth rate in the year to the March quarter 2018 being almost 78 per cent higher than its decade average, at 1.02 per cent.

The report also found that Tasmania has the highest annual growth in equipment investment in the nation – at 58.5 per cent annual growth – confirming that Tasmanian businesses are confident, investing and gearing up for continued growth.

The CommSec report shows that we are heading in the right direction, our long-term plan is working to improve the lives of all Tasmanians, and we will continue to roll out initiatives that boost the economy and create jobs.
