Supporting Tasmanian businesses

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of Tasmanian businesses as we cope with these challenging times and look to rebuild the economy.

Unfortunately, the strategy for Rebecca White and David O’Byrne is to play political games with hardworking businesses.

The Tasmanian Government has taken significant steps to provide assistance to affected businesses and the community, with social and economic support packages totaling $1 billion.

We have responded to businesses with a range of support for measures, including loans, grants, business advice, payroll reimbursement and quarterly electricity bill waivers for eligible small businesses, and we will further consider the issue of businesses who are within embedded networks.

Land tax for 2020-21 was waived for commercial property owners financially impacted by COVID-19 and this is complemented by the implementation of the Code of Conduct for commercial tenants in Tasmania to ensure that relief measures are appropriately shared between tenants and landlords.

This is along with the significant assistance being provided by the Australian Government, through programs such as the JobKeeper program and the temporary cash flow support to eligible small-medium-sized businesses and not-for-profits, to ensure they can continue operating.

The Tasmanian Government will continue to support the hardworking business community as we rebound from these challenging times.
