Strong response to Business Support Loans

In just over a month, we have recorded a strong response to our COVID-19 Business Support Loans, with more than 1200 applications already lodged or underway.

These Business Support Loans are providing between $20,000 and $250,000 on an interest free basis for three years to assist eligible local businesses through the difficult period of trading and movement restrictions.

Since the scheme was initially announced, there have been a number of additional Federal and State Government assistance measures announced, which have benefited, and will continue to benefit, many Tasmanian businesses through this challenging time.

In order to ensure applications continue to be assessed as quickly as possible, the scheme will close at 5pm on Monday, May 11, 2020. The scheme remains open for submissions until then, however, no new applications will be accepted after that time.

Applications commenced before that time but not yet submitted will have until 5pm on May 25, 2020, to finalise and submit.

These loans will assist the continuity, viability and sustainability of eligible businesses during the COVID-19 period so they can resume their operations and bring staff back faster, and be with us through the recovery.

This is just one part of our COVID-19 business support package. Businesses looking for more information on this or other support measures should contact Business Tasmania on 1800 440 026, via email at ask@business.tas.gov.au, or visit www.business.tas.gov.au
