Service Tasmania's Hobart Service Centre is on the move

After 22 years in the same location, Service Tasmania's Hobart Service Centre has temporarily relocated to make way for a renovation of its Macquarie Street location.

From today the Service Tasmania Hobart Team will begin operating a "pop-up" shop in the Hobart City Council's Customer Service Centre on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey Streets.

The “pop-up” shop will be a smaller Service Tasmania footprint, however there will be the same number of friendly staff, with some taking on a concierge role to help manage the customer flow of the two organisations.

The co-location with the Hobart City Council provides the opportunity for Service Tasmania to further explore working relationships with local councils.

Recent work in Devonport, for example, shows the mutual benefits such arrangements can provide, for the public and for the organisations.

The construction work is expected to take approximately 20 weeks, with Service Tasmania expected to open again in the Macquarie St site in early 2021.

Service Tasmania has worked to develop a more contemporary customer service design approach.

The new design was implemented in the new Launceston Service Centre, which opened in the CH Smith Centre in August 2019.

The redevelopment is the last stage of a project to update the entire Lands Building on Macquarie Street.

Service Tasmania has been based in the Macquarie Street centre since first opening in January 1998.

The Hobart Service Centre was the first of Service Tasmania’s 27 outlets to open for business.
