Reserve Forces Day 2020

The Tasmanian Government is the strongest supporter of our Defence Forces and today we recognise and acknowledge the value of Reservist members, who are an inspiration to many Tasmanians.

Reserve Forces Day is held annually around the country and serves as the ideal opportunity to thank serving and former Reservist members, and their families, for their dedication to our country.

The Australian Defence Force Reserves are made up of dedicated Australians who, in addition to their commitments to the ADF, have regular jobs and the everyday pressures of modern life.

These committed men and women are ready to step into extraordinary situations to help local communities or support peacekeeping activities in countries that are devastated by war or natural disasters.

Many thousands of our Reservists have helped in recent months during the bushfires in Australia and more recently the nation’s COVID-19 response, including in Tasmania.

They are truly remarkable people, and would not be able to do their Defence job without the support and understanding of their family and their civilian employers.
