Providing our children with a healthy and safe environment

There is nothing more important than ensuring our children grow up in a healthy and safe environment.

Children’s Week is being celebrated nationally from October 19-27 and in Tasmania, Playgroup Tasmania will hold a series of Teddy Bears’ Picnics today in a celebration of “all things children”.

This year’s Children’s Week National Theme is “Children have the right to good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that they will stay healthy. Richer countries should help poorer countries achieve this.”

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is working hard to ensure Tasmanian children are well supported, but there will always will be some children and families who face challenges and we will continue to support these families to reach their full potential.

I encourage people to attend and celebrate the Teddy Bears’ Picnics around the state to support our youngest Tasmanians.

Launceston, October 23 from 10.30am-2pm at the Launceston City Park.

Hobart, October 23 from 10am to noon at the Royal Botanical Garden.

East Devonport, October 23 from 10am to noon at the East Devonport Recreation Centre.
