Congratulations and thank you to our northern Champions of Tourism, who are pivotal to Tasmania’s ongoing tourism success story.
The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to continuing to boost visitation in regional areas to ensure even more Tasmanians benefit from our strong economy.
This year has been the ‘year of the north’ for tourism, with just over 705,000 interstate and international visitors travelling to Tasmania’s northern region in the year to June 2019.
This year began with Mona Foma, followed by the iconic Festivale, and 2020 is set to again put northern Tasmania in the global spotlight.
Northern Tasmania also hosted the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, mountain bike Enduro World Series, Hawthorn matches at UTAS Stadium and the Australian Musical Theatre Festival in 2019.
We celebrated our artists and performers with the Junction Arts Festival, and next week, northern Tasmania will welcome fly fishers from across the globe for the 39th FIPS-Mouche World Fly Fishing Championships.
Next year will see the BMXA National Championships, the Special Olympics Australia Junior National Games and the Australian Transplant Games, all hosted in the north.
Congratulations to all our northern Champions of Tourism:
