New partnership triples Tasmanian testing capacity

The Hon. Greg Hunt MP, Federal Minister for Health

The Hon. Richard Colbeck, Senator for Tasmania

The Hon. Sarah Courtney MP, Tasmanian Minister for Health

Keeping Tasmanians safe is our highest priority, as we continue to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak in the state’s North West.

A partnership has been established between the State, Commonwealth and Sonic HealthCare that will more than triple the testing capacity in Tasmania over the coming weeks.

Testing will be subject to demand and we will work with our public health professionals to ensure how this is best targeted.

This will complement our initiatives to roll out new testing clinics, and will include mobile clinics which will be deployed to the North West and West Coast from early next week.

We want to assure Tasmanians that the Government both state and federally stand ready to support you.

We encourage people with flu like symptoms to come forward and get tested. If in doubt, test.
