New Framework to address gambling harm

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is strongly committed to supporting vulnerable Tasmanians.

While many Tasmanians enjoy gambling as a form of entertainment, we also recognise that gambling causes harm for some people.

Today we are delivering on our commitment to release the Gambling Support Program Strategic Framework 2019-2023 which outlines the Government's public health approach to addressing gambling harms and improving health and well-being across Tasmanian communities.

The Framework provides clear strategic direction for the work of the Gambling Support Program including establishing actions and measuring outcomes.

The Government has developed the Framework by building on previous frameworks under successive governments and by consulting with key stakeholders across all sectors.

The Framework will also enable the Gambling Support Program to adjust to community needs and to the effects of rapidly changing gambling technologies and markets through 12 month action plans, and by focusing on three core areas: Support, Education and Resilience.

The framework can be accessed at https://www.communities.tas.gov.au/disability-community-services/gambling/about_gsp
