Major upgrades to Tasman District School complete

The Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering the biggest ever commitment to education infrastructure in Tasmania’s history.

As Minister for Education I am delighted to announce the $4 million upgrade to the Tasman District School.

The project included demolishing the aging infrastructure of the old school foyer, administration office area and four secondary classrooms, and the construction of new classrooms and school library, new Year 11 and 12 spaces, new office building, and a first aid room.

The project also included the conversion of the old school library space into two classrooms currently used by Years 4 to 6, and the constriction of four new toilets.

The school community has been involved and supportive of the development from the beginning, giving feedback and input on the redevelopment outcome.

The $4 million rebuild, funded from the 2016/17 Capital Investment Program, is the largest single investment in Tasman District School since the school was established.

I congratulate Heffernan Button Voss for designing the building, Fairbrother and Bennett Construction for building the new spaces, and Play Street Urban Design for developing the outdoor space.

A total of $176 million is being invested across the state over the forward estimates in capital works which includes new schools, school upgrades, new Early Learning Hubs and school farm redevelopments.
