Lazy Labor’s scare tactics heat up

Labor’s Ella Haddad is ignoring advice from the Chief Fire Officer on targeted fuel reduction burns and choosing petty politicking instead.

The Statewide Fuel Reduction Program has an excellent working relationship with Hobart City Council and under the tenure blind strategic fuel reduction program, burns around Lenah Valley and Mt Stuart have resulted in a 25-50% and 50-75% bushfire risk reduction.

Ms Haddad knows this, following the briefing to parliamentarians provided by the Chief Fire Officer.

All landowners have a responsibility to manage their land and the risk of fire by reducing fuel loads, removing vegetation where needed, and working with neighbours to understand their concerns.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government has clear policies and plans it is delivering, while Labor, working with the Greens, has no policies and their track record speaks for itself - they failed to implement a strategic fuel reduction program for 16 years.
