Latest data shows jobs growth

The latest ABS Labour Force data, released today, shows Tasmanian employment continued to grow in July, with 7000 more returning to work, in seasonally adjusted terms.

While these are challenging times, it is welcome to note Tasmania’s employment growth of 2.9 per cent was the highest in Australia. Tasmania also has recorded the lowest unemployment rate of any state.

Today’s result confirms that the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s glide-path approach towards recovery is supporting gradual employment growth.

We know we have a long road ahead of us and many Tasmanians and Tasmanian businesses are facing tough times. We will continue to help Tasmanians wherever we can.

The Government’s two-year construction blitz will support $3.1 billion in construction and 15,000 jobs as we recover and rebuild a stronger Tasmania.
