Innovation front and centre at Launceston’s Macquarie House

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government understands the importance of the digital economy and the critical role it will play in the future success of our state.

That’s why we are supporting the industry to grow with a number of key initiatives, including our ongoing investment in Enterprize, which has a bright new home in the redeveloped Macquarie House site, officially opened today.

Originally built as a warehouse in 1829, Macquarie House is the epitome of Tasmania’s agility to support both traditional and new industries with world leading technology. Through support from the Morrison Liberal Government and the Launceston City Council, the Launceston Enterprize hub will serve as the premier site for the Northern start-up community. By working together, we are able to provide resources and support to inspire and accelerate the next generation of students, innovators and entrepreneurs to keep driving our economy forward.

My Government is a strong supporter of our ICT and innovation sector and we are investing $1.1 million over the next three years to support the activities of the Enterprize hubs in both Launceston and Hobart.

Providing training and hands-on mentoring to develop, evaluate and implement, pre-start-up and early stage business opportunities, the Enterprize Hubs in Launceston and Hobart have drawn interest and support from a range of industries, innovators and community members.

This is also supplemented by an additional $900,000 investment in the Tasmanian Government’s Start-up Accelerator program, which will help turn the concepts of Tasmania’s best and brightest into viable, real-world products and services.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to building a bright digital future and strengthening our state’s digital prospects to grow our economy and create even more local jobs.
